Which survey do you need?
A management survey covers a building in normal use. Before renovation, extension or demolition you need the more intrusive refurbishment and demolition survey of the areas being worked on, it’s a legal requirement under CAR 2012 for contractors to have this information.
What it costs
Management surveys start around £195 for domestic properties; refurbishment surveys cost more depending on scope. Individual samples are around £125. Set against a build stopping mid-programme, it’s the cheapest insurance on the project.

If the result is positive
Positive doesn’t automatically mean removal: sound, undisturbed material outside the work zone can be managed in place. Where removal is needed, you get a fixed quote within 24 hours and certification when it’s done.
